Recorded using a Fractal Audio AXE FX II guitar effect unit run into a yamaha 01v96 mixing desk into a M audio 192 audiophile soundcard and recorded using steinberg nuendo 4, eastwest vsts, and addictive drums using Ibanez Jem 7VWH and Status Graphite Kingbass artist guitars.
I originally wanted to keep this song simple with just a church organ, bass guitar, drums and some solos but when I got the initial melody in my head I wanted it to sound friendly yet sinister so I opted for the sound of something similar to a childrens melody. It sounded a little empty so I padded it out with a choir until the church organ chords I had in mind which I loved so doubled them up with crunchy guitar sounds and a heavier drum kit to give it a more powerful than melodic feel. With halloween in mind I wanted to keep it dark / gothic in nature but not too predictable so I changed tempos / drum patterns and added a spooky clean tremolo guitar part in places to make it stand out.
