I had the melody for this track bouncing around in my head for a while but didnt do anything with it because I couldnt for the life of me think what I could base around it. Eventually I just progammed in the main melody with a vibraphone then thought it sounded a little bare so I doubled it up with a salsa stac trumpet to give it a little more punch. The bassline and drums, like the melody I kept very simple as I didnt want anything to take away from the main melody until the little break with the accordian.
When the song was starting to take shape I made the odd decision of using some gregorian monks to chant on the snare offbeat followed by more excited chanting then an anticlimatic " Ohhhh ! " which is how the song ends. I thought 2 minutes 22 seconds was a good duration as it just felt right.
So unleash the clowns !
