Vampires ! Creatures of the night portrayed in ways from misunderstood, to romantic to downright naughty. Spawned numerous books and movies. Some great, some terrible !
I was just punching random piano keys out of boredom, different keys octaves and thought " What can I build on this ? " So I doubled the notes up with a church organ and held the long notes with bass vocals. So up until the 22 second mark I had no idea what I was doing or where this was heading.
Then I thought " That sounds kinda gothic ! " so I bought in a grand piano bassline on the final organ note and doubled it up with timpani. With these tracks laid down it had a good solid backbone, so I played with different melodies and instruments. Early on in the list just for fun more than serious application I tried and xylophone and boom ! It was perfect !!! Just seemed to fit with the bass piano, timpani, and everything else going on due to it's short sharp defined notes. I opted for 1/16th notes, so 8 notes every 4 bars leaving the " da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da " melody in place which I filled out with drum rolls and cymbals at appropriate places. The church organ was a key part in this piece of music so I bought it back for the break in the middle backed up with a full choir ( bass, male and female and soloist ) and a seperate church organ solo just to make it sound even more graveyard / church at night Dracula-esque. I thought about repeating the intro again but felt it had had enough key changes already ! Then after the buildup just breaking down again for the ending.
